The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, general overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye has ordered the return of public funds stolen by some of his congregation and donated to the RCCG.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission chairman Mr Ola Olukoyede made this known while speaking at an anti-corruption event at the weekend. He said billions of naira stolen from public funds were traced to the RCCG and the EFCC notified Pastor Adegboye about their findings.
He said Pastor Adegboye did not resist or protect the identity of the donors, he simply ordered the return of the funds.
“He said, if the money is not clean, the church will not keep it. He said, return it. Let the government do what it wants with it,” the EFCC boss quoted Adeboye as saying.
