Galatasaray top striker Victor Osimhen is expected to undergo surgery after suffering an injury to his left knee during their Champions League tie against VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday.
Osimhen was on all 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over the German side and during the game he fell on the pitch unchallenged as he attempted to make a pass. On Friday Galatasaray confirmed that he suffered a strain in his left knee. He will be booked at the Maslak Acıbadem Hospital on Saturday, and he could be out of action for up to four weeks.
“In the UEFA Champions League match we played against VfB Stuttgart, our player Victor Osimhen sustained a strain in his left knee, and MRI examinations detected a loose body. An arthroscopic knee surgery will be performed Saturday at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by our club doctor Yener İnce.
“For this reason, our player has been removed from the squad for tomorrow’s match against Amed S. F,” Galatasaray posted on X.
This is the second injury blow Osimhen will be suffering this season. In September he was out for weeks after coming down with a groin injury. He missed the Super Eagles AFCON qualifiers against Guinea Bissau, and it is certain he will also miss the tie against Tanzania on November 13.
