Peter Obi’s plan to hold a town hall meeting Thursday in Enugu has been frustrated by the owners of the venue where the event will hold.
According to the management of the Amadeo Event Centre they have been instructed not all the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate hold his town hall meeting at the venue. This is despite the fact that N3m fee has been paid weeks ahead of the October 29 date.
When NDC supporters went to the venue located along Ebeano Tunnel Road, to clean up and set the stage, they were shocked to find the hall under lock and key. The manager of the event centre told them that their contract to use the hall has been cancelled.
The owner of the centre Pastor Ugo Chime, allegedly told NDC officials that he was being pressured not to let Obi use the facility.
NDC’s Enugu East senatorial candidate, Princess Ada Ogbu, said, “They are trying to stop Peter Obi from having our Town Hall meeting. They are actually trying to stop Peter Obi from having a Town Hall meeting in the state but it will be resisted.”
The NDC accused Enugu State governor Peter Mbah and other All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in the South-East of attempting to frustrate Obi’s activities and campaigns in the region.
