Cristiano Ronaldo’s family is calling to the world-famous striker to call it time with the Portuguese national team.
During the international break Ronaldo stormed out of Portugal camp after he was left out of the starting line by coach Jorge Jesus in their UEFA Nations League clash against Norway. Portugal won 2-1 and Ronaldo’s absence was not felt; he vowed never to return to the team as long as Jesus was in charge.
Portuguese journalist Luis Vilar in an interview with “Al-Arabiya” claimed that: “Ronaldo’s family this time advised him to retire and end his journey quietly.
“But on the other hand, Ronaldo is unable to realise that his time with football is over, and at the same time he must recognise his value because he is a symbol of Portugal.
“Public opinion sees that his ego and personal demands are pushing him to make these bad decisions, including continuing on the pitch, despite the decline in his technical and physical level.”
Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro revealed her shock seeing her son leave Portugal camp the way he did.
“I feel sad, it’s normal. It was a shock, my son could have left through the main door and instead he left through the small door, but it’s okay, God will take care of it,” Dolores Aveiro said in a statement to TV 7 Dias.
“I cried a little. It’s good too, to let go. We have to turn this around.”
