The police in Akwa Ibom State Thursday peppered the Obi/Kwankwaso Movement two million man march with teargas and arrested the coordinator Elijah Noah, in Uyo.
According to Esther Umoh who is a media aide to Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi, the peaceful march was disrupted by the police with teargas.
“The OK Movement Coordinator for Akwa Ibom State has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police while marching peacefully on the streets of Uyo,” she wrote on X.
“Tear gas is being fired at Peter Obi supporters in Akwa Ibom as we speak,” she added.
The campaign for the 2027 election has been declared open by the electoral umpire but the police had warned against the march saying it could breach peace and also cause security concerns.
The two million march was in solidarity with the NDC in its quest to change the narratives in the 2027 election.
