Edo State governor Monday Okpebholo has stirred the hornet’s nest by suggesting that Nigerians should quit complaining about exorbitant price of petrol because they paying a far cheaper price than those in the Uk.
The price of petrol per litre is currently hovering between N1,332 to N1,500 depending on locations, according to government officials this rise was due to the conflict in the Middle East. However, most Nigerians are not buying into that argument.
Okpebholo who addressed the concerns raised by Nigerians was quoted as saying.
“Nigerians are complaining about the cost of petrol, but I visited a filling station in London last week and, after conversion, a litre of fuel costs over ₦3,000 there. We are enjoying ourselves here.
“We are doing very well here. The President is stabilizing the economy. He’s an economist.”
Some questions were thrown at him on X social media platform.
