Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare said he is not fully fit and will use the opportunity of the international break to regain his strength.
Arokodare was one of the strikers coach Eric Chelle is banking on to provide the goals in Tuesday’s African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo and two days later against Guinea Bissau.
But speaking to AjaxLife Arokodare said he has not been feeling well.
“ I am not yet 100 percent fit. I still feel weak.
“I haven’t recovered as much as I thought. I wanted to start, but I don’t think I could have.
“Hopefully, I will recover fully during the international break,” he said.
Meanwhile Taiwo Awoniyi will step up the plate after Victor Osimhen also scratched out.
The Coventry City striker gets the opportunity to return to the national team after being ignored during the 2025 AFCON.
The Super Eagles will be looking to collect maximum points from the two fixtures as they continue their campaign for a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.
