Afrobeats star David Adeleke a.k.a Davido has revealed that rapper and Latina star Bad Bunny inspired his move to bring Afrobeats to Lagos in a three-night homecoming show at the National Theater from December 17-19.
Davido is aiming to bring Afrobeats stars and fans to Lagos in what he described as a homecoming and a celebration his latest album “Oriade.” Davido said he also wants to prove music moments can also be created in Lagos, just like in other major cities around the world, and he expects fans from all over the world to grace the show, which is happening around the now famous Lagos “Detty December” celebrations.
“Bringing everything back home is very important for the culture,” Davido told CNN.
“Me just being home just gave me so much inspiration,” he said. “This kind of feels better doing it from where you’re actually from.”
“I don’t ever want to take that kind of break again away from my fans back home,” he added.
He explained that Bad Bunny achieved the same in 2025 in Puerto Rico his homeland.
“It was like a whole tourist attraction,” Davido said. “The country (Puerto Rico) made money, he made money, he promoted his culture. So that’s kind of where my head is at.”
