The All-Progressives Congress presidential campaign council has urged the APC governors’ forum and Federal Capital Territory minister Nyesom Wike to stop their public spat and focus on winning the 2027 elections.
Spokesperson for the presidential campaign council Ima Niboro said Wednesday Wike and the governors’ forum headed by Imo State governor Hope Uzodimma needs to take APC messages to the grassroots rather than bicker over structures.
“When I said tone down the rhetoric, I mean Stop talking, go and work,” Niboro said during an appearance on Arise TV.
“Stop all this high-sounding grammar that they are blowing everywhere is not leading anybody anywhere. Go and work.”
“Get on the TV cameras. Go to the people. Go to the streets. Go to the marketplaces. Go and win the people.”
The APC governors’ forum had distanced themselves from the Rainbow Coalition spearheaded by Mr. Wike opting to follow the party’s own programmes geared at re-electing President Tinubu and other members on the ballot.
Wike on his part questioned the motive of the governors saying he was only concerned about Tinubu’s victory.
“Rainbow Coalition has nothing to do with the APC. Rather, it is our own way of mobilising support across political parties for Mr President, who has done well to deserve a second term.”
