Super Eagles and Galatasaray top striker will miss action for three weeks at most after scans revealed the extent of his groin injury.
He will now miss Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Lisbon where Galatasaray begin their European campaign with Sporting Lisbon. Osimhen will also likely miss the Super Eagles 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar on September 25 and Guinea-Bissau four days later.
“Following the completion of MR and advanced examinations at our sponsor Acıbadem Hospital, advanced-moderate level strain (bleeding and strain) has been detected in the right adductor (groin) muscle group of our footballer Victor Osimhen,” Galatasaray confirmed in a post on X.
Osimhen who has scored six goals so far in the season pulled up during Galatasaray’s 3-2 Super Lig victory over İstanbul Başakşehir last Friday, scoring the opening goal before being forced off in the 33rd minute.
Galatasaray are hopeful Osimhen would be fully recovered before their next Champions League home game against Barcelona October 13.
