Multitude of Catholic faithful, other congregations and unbelievers alike have been flocking to Getare Village in Kisii County Kenyan to see an apparition of the “Blessed Virgin Mary.”
According to various reports Mary Onsombi, a farmer and devoted Catholic, had noticed the image of the Virgin Mary on her kitchen wall near the fireplace on Friday, September 4. She attempted to rub it off, but the more she tried the more the image became clearer exposing the shape of a woman with a flowing veil and hands joined in prayer.
On Sunday the kitchen built of mud became a sight to behold for those who are curious to know what the frenzy is all about and a pilgrimage site for the Catholic faithful.
Catholic nuns, lay faithful clutching rosaries, schoolchildren, and preachers from various denominations were among those who made their way to the tiny kitchen to view the image.
Visitors knelt and recited prayers while others photographed the image for social media.

“The Onsombi family are staunch Catholic faithfuls. Whether this is a miracle or not, I have no authority nor powers to authenticate. In a nutshell, Mr. Onsombi’s wife’s name is Mary. In her semi-permanent kitchen (the corner where she prepares meals from), she discovered an unusual image on the wall that resembles the famous Catholic Mary statue. She tried to smear it out, but the image came out bolder,” said Michael Motume, a local politician after viewing the image.
