Chelsea coach Xabi Alonso said ahead of Sunday’s Premier League London derby clash against Arsenal that signing Morgan Rogers was a big plus and he expects him to deliver for the Blues.
Morgan will hopefully show Arsenal what they missed by not signing him this summer as Chelsea hope to continue their winning streak at the Emirates Stadium. His preferred club was Arsenal when his Aston Villa exit was certain, but the Gunners shied away from the deal because of the 120m euros price tag.
Morgan has made impressive contributions to Chelsea’s back to back wins this season.
“The decision to get Morgan was a big one. He will be a key player for the next six-seven years,” said Alonso.
“His chemistry with the whole team is great, with his striker partners, it’s fantastic and it gives us a lot of hope for the future. He looks really happy, and that’s important.”
Meanwhile Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said he is likely to have Jurrien Timber back in action and Cristhian Mosquera will also be fit to play against Chelsea.
