Tinubu...eyeing re-election.

President Bola Tinubu Saturday named a 108-member Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections and opposition parties have predicted that it was a move doomed to fail.
President Tinubu himself will be chairman of the council with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, acting as first and second vice chairmen; former Zamfara State governor Abdulaziz Yari as director-general and Imo State governor as secretary.
According to the Allied People Movement the composition of the campaign council alone suggests that the APC has nothing to offer while the African Democratic Congress said it was a gathering of underperforming and corrupt individuals.
“If after three and half years in power, President Tinubu could not garner the capacity to assemble a credible team, then it is clear that indeed he has no business being in charge of a nation as complex and demanding as Nigeria,” said APM national publicity secretary Abubakar Yusuf.
He added that the mismanagement of the country’s economy, poor infrastructure development and failing national security are issues Nigerians are most concerned about, and Tinubu and his team have no clue.
“How can any well-meaning Nigerian campaign for an administration that has ruined our economy with ill-advised and ill-implemented anti-people policies resulting in the crippling of our national productive sectors?”
The ADC said that involvement of some former government officials indicted in corruption cases in Tinubu’s campaign raises a lot of questions. These include Betta Edu former minister of humanitarian affairs and Ngozi Olejeme former chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund.
“If they have been cleared, the government should show how and when and by whom they were cleared,” ADC national publicity secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said in a statement.
“The President may assemble his old friends and political allies, including those carrying unresolved corruption questions, but all of their collective brooms cannot sweep away the grave pains they have brought on the Nigerian people,”
