Residents of Port Harcourt Rivers State Saturday staged a protest calling for government’s decisive action on curbing “One Chance Robbery” in the city.
The protesters, including victims of the crime, marched from Boro Camp Junction to the Rivers State Government House and the Police Command Headquarters and urged the government and the police to do more to keep commuters safe.
“One Chance Robber” involves criminal gangs using marked and unmarked vehicles to load passengers and while in transit these passengers are disposed of their phones, wallet and other valuables, some of the criminals have POS machines and often cajole their victims to part with their money at gunpoint.
On Friday one such incident occurred along the Eliozu-Airforce Link Road provoking a high-speed chase of the robbers.
