Chidimma Adestina and her lawyer in court.

Former beauty queen contestant Chidimma Adetshina was harassed by a South African mob protesting her continued stay in the country she was born.
This was after a Cape Town Court reserved judgement in her deportation case till February 2027. The South African Home Affairs Department is seeking to deport Adetshina claiming that she and her son carry the Nigerian passport.
Adetshina argued in court that she was born in South Africa, has relatives in Soweto and she was in the process of regularising her immigration status.
She was ordered to report herself to immigration regularly while waiting for her case to be determined. While leaving the court premises on Thursday, she was confronted by an angry group of protesters who asked her to leave the country immediately.
Footage circulating on social media showed a tense scene on a city street, with individuals in the crowd holding placards bearing messages such as “South Africa is not a refugee site for African Countries.”
Some protesters were seen attempting to push through the people surrounding Adetshina, creating what appeared to be a threatening atmosphere for the beauty queen.
Adetshina believes that she was being singled out by the authorities because she represented Nigeria at the 2024 Miss Universe contest in Mexico and coming a second runner up after she was rejected by South Africans who argued that she was not South African enough to represent them at beauty pageant.
