The police in Plateau State said they have arrested the suspected mastermind of the killings in Bin-Per community in the in Kombun District of Mangu Local Government Area.
Twenty-four persons were killed and many others injured in the early Tuesday morning attack.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the arrest in a telephone interview with Channels Television.
Alabo said the command is making headway in its investigation and is still on the trail of other attackers involved in the deadly assault.
He said the suspect in custody is believed to be the mastermind of the attack.
The police spokesperson assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects and bring all those responsible for the killings to justice.
The attack prompted renewed security measures in the area, with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Maxwell Dangana, moving his tactical office to Mangu for two weeks to directly supervise operations.
The Nigerian Army has also launched ‘Operation Hard Nut’ to flush out terrorists and other criminal elements operating in the area and restore normalcy.
