Delta State governor Sheriff Oborevwori has handed an indefinite suspension to his commissioner of works Izeze Reuben over his alleged involvement in the brutal assault of Simon Mudi.
Mr. Mudi.who is special assistant to the governor on protocol, was bloodied during a political gathering, which turned violent at the Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun in July.
According to the secretary to the Delta
State Government, Kingsley Eze Emu the suspension of Mr. Reuben would allow security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into allegations linking him to the assault of Mudi, popularly known as Temple.
Mudi was beaten up and left bleeding from various spots on his body. Reports, which circulated on social media alleged that he jumped on because of his extreme views on President Bola Tinubu’ s achievements, however this account was disputed by government sources.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident, which led to the alleged assault and those involved, are now subject to investigation by the appropriate security authorities,” said the Delta State government.
The Delta State government, stressed that the suspension of the commissioner is intended to allow the security agencies to carry out their investigation without interference and to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
It emphasised that the State government remains committed to ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order, and protecting the sanctity of human lives.
