Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon Sunday evening refused to be dominated as they put an end to Nigeria’s Super Falcons winning streak over them with a nail bitting one 1-0 win in the quarterfinal of the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations.
The result means Cameroon beating Nigeria for the first time in the WAFCON, have grabbed one of the four automatic tickets to the 2027 FIFA Women World Cup in Brazil, while the Super Falcons will seek a back entrance through a playoff. They will likely face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana to determine who gets the ticket for the intercontinental play-offs.
Cameroon’s Myriam Nyadjou fired a thunderbolt from outside the box to score the only goal of the match that prevents the Super Falcons any further participation. The Cameroonian relentless pressure in the first 20 minutes of the game paid off beautifully for them as Super Falcon conceded a freekick as result of the onslaught. Though the Super Falcons dominated after conceding of ideas of what to do with ball and even when they did there was no one to deliver the knockout punch just like when Gift Monday miss kicked after connecting a with a pass from captain Rasheedat Ajibade.
