FIFA president Gianni Infantino is under pressure to resign from his position as several football officials, federations from Europe, Asia and America say they want him gone.
This is coming on the heel of his failed bid to sell football stakes to a private investment company headed by Joshua Kushner a brother-in-law to the Donald Trump family.
UEFA on Friday said in a statement that they have lost confidence on Infantino and according to reports they are fully prepared to back any move that will remove him from office. CONCACAF has also called for a total review of Infantino’s reign.
Apart from the federations FIFA officials who feel that Infantino acted alone on the FIFA Forward Enterprises as the proposal is called, are supporting moves to have Infantino removed.
His closest adviser Carlos Cordeiro resigned on Thursday and FIFA’s chief operating officer Kevin Lamour, is also urging Infantino to throw in the towel.
Faced with barrage of criticism and call for accountability Infantino according to reports on Sunday is preparing to step down as member federations are poised to place a vote of no confidence on him, he refuses to step down.
