A Nigeria Army intelligence officer Colonel Abdussalam Ude, has died from gunshot wounds after being attacked by unknown gunmen at his residence in the Kurudu area of Abuja.
According to various reports the shooting occurred Monday night when Col Ude returned to his abode from work.
The gunmen who are suspected to be on a kidnap mission faced resistance from the Colonel. He was however, shot dead. His wife and driver also suffered gunshot wounds but are expected to recover.
The military and police are investigating the incident and those behind the attack.
Security agencies, alongside military authorities, have launched investigations to track down those responsible for the killing.
Colonel Ude, an indigene of Enugu State, served in the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps and occupied several key intelligence and counter-terrorism positions during his years of service.
