Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele scored as a clock efficient France beat Morocco 2-0 to earn a semi-final spot of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Thursday in Boston.
Mbappé continued his scoring spree streak early in the 60th minute after missing a penalty in the first half. Ousmane Dembele added the second in the 66th minute to seal Morocco’s doom.
Mbappé now leads Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot race (both players have eight goals now, but Mbappé has more assists). It’s the third straight World Cup semifinal for Les Bleus.
However, Mbappe suffered a knock and left the pitch in the 77th minute. He was later seen icing his right ankle on the bench during the game’s final minutes.
With the win, France will play in the semis next week where they will face either Spain or Belgium. The French have become the third team ever to make it to three straight World Cup semifinals, joining Brazil and Germany.
