A bandit kingpin responsible for spates of kidnapping and terror in the Delta north axis Abubakar Usman, was Wednesday captured by the Delta State police anti kidnapping squad after a gunbattle in the Ogwashi-Uku/Adonta Forest.
Abubakar Usman and his terror gang met their waterloo following the abduction of one Blessing Chiedu from Umunede and demanded a ransom of N100m. But the Delta State police anti-kidnap squad using tech surveillance traced the criminals to their location. Miss Chiedu was rescued unharmed.
Fallowing a manhunt for the fleeing bandits, they were cornered in the Ogwashi-Uku forest, Abubakar Usman was capture after a shootout, however his gang members escaped with their weapons.
According to security expert Harrison Gwamnishu posting on his X social media platform: “The operation continued throughout the night until approximately 6:45a.m Wednesday, when our Surveillance system located the gang to their hideout in the Ogwashi-Uku/Adonta Forest.
“A gun battle ensued, during which our combined team overpowered the criminals. One of the most wanted suspects, Abubakar Usman, was successfully captured, while other members of the gang escaped into the forest with their firearm.
“Abubakar Usman and his gang have been responsible for several kidnapping operations across Igbodo, Umunede, and surrounding communities, where they have extorted millions of naira in ransom from innocent families.”
