England will have just two days of training before their round of 16 clash against 2026 FIFA World Cup hosts Mexico on July 6 at the famous Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
But according to England coach, Thomas Tuchel his team needed at least 10 days of high altitude conditioning to be ready for the tie at the venue England lost to Argentina 2-1 in the quarter final with Diego Maradona scoring his famous”Hand of God goal” and his solo goal during the 1986 tournament.
“The recommendation is you either go 10 days before – which is too long for us – or last minute, which is not allowed.
“We will go one night earlier, it makes sense. The ball will fly differently. It will fly maybe five yards more. It’s just difficult. We need the experience.
” We have spoken to teams who do it and they say they travel very, very late on matchday if they can’t have time to adapt. We will find a mixture in between. It’s a huge advantage (for Mexico),” Tuchel stated.
