England coach Thomas Tuchel said his team was frustrated by Ghana’s Black Stars sitting deep as they came prepared for a draw.
Ghana were happy to let England do all the pressing in their group L tie in Boston on Tuesday night causing anxious moments for the Three Lions and the supporters.
England top the group with five points and must win against Panama in the last game. Ghana will face an uphill task against Croatia who beat Panama 1-0 on Wednesday.
“It is difficult to find a way through when someone plays a 4-5-1 and completely deep and is committed to it and they celebrate a 0-0 like a win.
“So you could see the different approaches, which is fair enough and credit to them. You cannot lose your head about it,” said Tuchel.
Meanwhile Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz remarked that England were lucky to have escaped defeat as a penalty shout was ignored.
“I’m not sure VAR is still working in the World Cup. We still have VAR? It’s working?
“I have some doubts about that because another penalty that they need to give to Ghana, a clear penalty against England (was missed).”
“We had our chances to the point that they’re lucky. They’re very lucky.
“Once again, VAR went for a coffee. It’s natural, I would like to also take my coffees once in a while, but it was a clear penalty, red card.”
