A young Ghanaian female fan died suddenly while celebrating the Black Stars’ 1-0 win over Panama in their opening game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Toronto Canada in early hours of Thursday.
Ghanaians went on overdrive after the victory and the deceased 26 years old Sarah Araba Tettey, a legal practitioner slumped in the frenzy of celebrations at a private hostel in Bomso, near Kumasi.
She was rushed to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Hospital where she was given CPR for about 45 minutes but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The KNUST Faculty of Law alumna, who was called to the Bar earlier this year, was said to have suffered a cardiac arrest.
Ghanaians on Instagram mourned her passing.
