The Police in Anambra State have arrested a landlord in connection with the suspicious death of a 23-year-old nursing student at the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor.
According to the police the student identified as Chiamaka Chilaka, who hails from Isingu in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, was found dead on Sunday after a church service at her residence in Uruezeani, Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The Landlord was allegedly pestering the student for a romance, but she refused to give in to his advances.
Anambra State police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said there were marks of violence on her body, including a deep cut on her thigh and lots of blood stains on the scene of the crime indicating there was a struggle.
He said the Landlord is helping the police in their investigations, and he remains a prime suspect.
“The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed investigative officers to expedite action on the investigation into the reported suspected murder of a 23-year-old female student, whose lifeless body was discovered at her residence in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
“The CP gave the directive following the transfer of the case from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a comprehensive and discreet investigation.”
