Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is set to leave Spanish side Villarreal once his contract expires on June 30.
The former Arsenal player signed a one-year contract with Villarreal in August 2025, just weeks after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by London’s Metropolitan Police.
According to The Athletic, Villarreal do not intend to give the 33-year-old a new contract, and he will be left without a club at the end of the month.
The defensive midfielder made 32 appearances in all competitions for the LaLiga side last term as they qualified for the Champions League.
Partey is currently with the Black Stars who play their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Panama on Wednesday night in Toronto, Canada. But he would be in that game as he was denied visa by the Canadian authorities due to the charges he faces in the UK.
Partey efforts to overturn the entry ban failed on Tuesday as court documents revealed that he did not disclose the criminal charges when filling his visa application.
