Nigeria Democratic Party presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, Peter Obi said he would meet former political ally Kenneth Okonkwo in court after the actor turned politician boasted he would expose Obi if he took any legal action against him for an alleged defamation.
Obi had accused Okonkwo of defaming him during an interview he granted claiming that he collected money from aspiring NDC candidates. Obi demanded a public apology and a demand of N5b in damages.
But Mr. Okonkwo threatened to expose Mr. Obi even with more damaging allegations, if he took him to court, saying “you don’t sue your former spokesman.”
However, Obi speaking during a chat with Nevon Media podcast hosted by Rufai Oseni Tuesday said: “The issue of taking Kenneth Okonkwo to court wouldn’t have arisen if he had stopped at those allegations.
“But he claimed he still has more he would expose about me in the future. So, I am very happy to take him to court so that he can expose me publicly, alongside other Nigerians. If any of them has any criminal allegations against me, they should bring it to court.”
On his agenda to revamp Nigeria Obi stated that he would start by fostering national unity and patriotism adding that through investments in human capacity and transparent governance Nigeria can be brought out of the woods.
“I will start transformation by uniting this country, bringing it together to be a country everybody will be proud of.
“These things are not rocket science. Countries across the world have done this. What they did is simple. I will deliver good governance to people,” he said.
