Isyaka Rabe the son of the late Major-General Abubakar Rabe has disputed claims by the Katsina State government his father died from diabetics and hypertension complications.
Speaking during an interview with DW Isyaka noted that his father didn’t have any history of those diseases as being pushed forward.
The deceased officer’s daughter, Adda Abubakar, had earlier made a similar claim on social media, insisting that her father did not suffer from diabetes and suggesting that a snake bite might have caused his death.
“I truly don’t believe it was diabetes. In our view, it was a heart attack. If you look at it, his legs were restrained. Moreover, some people said that he was walking, and he didn’t die, so God knows.”
Major General Rabe was kidnapped on May 30 in Katsina State by bandits led by Mohammed Kachalla, he died on Saturday June 13 while in custody with his wife. According to Isyaka his mother is still being held captive.
His remains were delivered by the bandits to officials of the Katsina State government by the bandits who brought the corpse in a convoy of motorbikes.
