Veteran reggae singer Chinagorom Onuoha a.k.a African China has given his blessings to Afrobeats singer Abdulateef Oluwashina Adekunle better known as Zamorra to cover his popular song “Mr. President,” released in the year 2000.
African China did the song during the reign of President Olusegun Obasanjo to remind the head of state, governors and senators to get a grip of the country as crime, poverty and lack of infrastructure was limiting the potentials of Nigerian youths.
Fast forward to 26 years Zamorra released a softer piano version of the song and it is currently trending on the social media as Nigerians grapple with harsher economic and social problems.
African China simply nodded in agreement in an X social media video post as music fans appreciated the relevance of the song against the prevailing living conditions under President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on the endorsement by African China, Zamorra described dancing to the original years ago, now feeling its weight differently, marking a generational echo of the streets’ voice.
“I used to dance to this song years ago, now it feels different! Shout out to the legendary @african_china for this inspiration! #crisis,” he posted.
