Afrobeats super star David Adeleke a.k.a Davido, while performing on the eve of the 2026 FIFA World Cup drew the world’s attention to the plight of 46 Oyo State students and teachers kidnapped by gunmen.
The students, including two- and three-year-old kids and the teachers, have been languishing in captivity for more than three weeks, while the government has been unable to track and rescue the victims.
There have been protests by Nigerians who were particularly touched by the beheading of one of the teachers Michael Oyedokun.
Davido wore a jacket on which 46 buttons bearing the names of the victims were attached and also there was an Inscribed bold on the back of his jacket were the words: “BRING THEM HOME.”
Speaking backstage before his performance at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles USA, the singer expressed grief over the development and urged both federal and state authorities to intensify efforts toward securing the safe return of the abducted victims.
