Famous Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens a.k.a Ruggedman has ruled out making music for now saying he is preoccupied with other things that can bring him money.
Ruggedman ruled the airwaves back in the early 2000s and had his last work titled the “Michael Stephens Experiment” in 2024.
Speaking during the week at an occasion in Oregun near Ikeja, Ruggedman smiled when asked why he had taken a back seat when still young and vibrant.
“I’ve decided that there will be no more rapping for now. I’m leaving the stage for those who are currently doing their thing.
“Besides I’m preoccupied with other things that can bring me money,” Ruggedman stated.
When reminded that his peers like Eminem are still very much around in the US working and touring, he added: “You cannot compare our environment with those in the US. There they have structures, which can help musicians to perform for as long as they can.”
Ruggedman had six studio albums which he produced by himself with his own label Rugged Records. They include “Thy Album Come” (2004), “Ruggedy Baba” (2007), “Untouchable (2010 “Money Making Music (2012), “Situation (2021) and “The Michael Stephens Experiment (2024).
