Ime Okon...defending South Africa.

A good number of South African football fans are uncomfortable with the selection of Ime Okon by coach Hugo Broos in his 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup starting in June.
The 22-years old Okon was born to a Nigerian father and a South African mother, but according to the fans he was not South African enough to represent their country. This is coming against the background of protests by South Africans against migrants in their country.
They also see him as a player blocking the chances of full-blooded South Africans from playing at the World Cup
Okon who is a defender signed by German division two side Hanover, in the past did not hide his preference to play for the Super Eagles but he pledged his allegiance to South Africa in March when he was called by coach Broos.
Meanwhile Broos stated that he selected his players based on how fast the team can integrate.
“It’s not a question of quality. It’s just the integration. So, this is very important that all those things you tick together and then make your choices, but sometimes it’s still very difficult to choose between two players.”
