Arsenal legends Martin Keown and Nwankwo Kanu are backing their former club to triumph over Paris St Germain in Saturday’s Champions League final in Budapest, Hungary.
Arsenal are the underdogs but riding on the crest of winning their first Premier League title in 22 years, the Gunners who are in good form could potentially upset the defending champions. And one man who could be decisive for Arsenal, according to Keown, is Eberechi Eze.
“Eze should be in the team somewhere for his attacking ability,” Keown said during a chat on TNT.
“Now, how can you afford to leave him out? He comes into the equation as well. I’m pleased I’m not picking the team. When he’s in front of the goal, he gets an opportunity… I think he’s ruthless.
“I think he really dispatches well in front of goal. It’s almost like a certain goal. I think he’s really making his mark at Arsenal. He’s going to play a part in this game.
“It might not be in the XI, it might be what the manager calls ‘the finishers’ who end up with all the glory here. But we’re in for a fascinating fare.”
Kanu, a member of the “Invincible Squad” believes that it was Arsenal’s time to win and they would go all out and get the job done.
“I told my friends that last season, we were struggling against Manchester City, and they went on to win the league. But this season, the table changed, and we have come out on top to win the Premier League title,” Kanu said.
“In the same way, PSG won the Champions League last year, but I truly believe that this season it will be Arsenal’s turn to go all the way and lift the trophy, making it a historic year for the club.”
