Sprinter Blessing Ogundiran keeps churning out heart warming performances in the USA.
On Friday at the NAIA outdoor final meet in Asheville North Carolina, she won a sprint double and created a meet record of 11.17secs in the women’s 100m; she did 23.66 in the 200m. Earlier in the season she ran 10.98secs to set a new person best and also an NAIA record.
“Ogundiran is still scratching, by the time she is done, she will be a world class runner,” said Taiwo Ariyo who is athletics head coach Werner University Florida.
“She could have ran faster than she did , but the weather was not friendly.”
Ogundiran joined the Werner University team last year and has consistently performed indoors and outdoors.
She is one of the US based athletes the Athletics Federation of Nigeria would be banking to make the difference at the Commonwealth Games in August.
But it is doubtful if she would be making the trip to Scotland due to travel restrictions in the US.
