Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has spread a dragnet for Sadiya Umar Farouq a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development in former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Miss. Umar Farouq is wanted for an alleged abuse of office and diversion of public funds, the EFCC made this known on its website on Saturday.
“Farouq, 52, is an indigene of Zamfara State and her last known address is EN008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.
“Anybody with useful information as to her whereabouts should contact EFCC offices.”
Umar Farouq had failed to appear in Court for her arraignment on charges of fraud involving $1.3million and N746.6million.
Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the FCT High Court had, on April 16, 2026, ordered the arrest of Farouq alongside a former Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Bashir Nura Alkali, after both defendants failed to appear before the court for the commencement of trial.
