Former Kwara State governor Bukola Saraki has been urged to head to court and defend himself on the allegations of complicity in the 2018 deadly Offa robbery.
A group All Progressives Congress Continuity Mandate Group in Kwara State made the charge to the former Senate president who was indicted by the Kwara State government and charges filed against him. According to the group Saraki need not resort to propaganda on pages of newspapers but should head to court and clear his name.
The group include former chairman of Ilorin East local government area, Alh Usman Bibire Ajape, former minister of Sports, Hon. Issa Bio Ibrahim, and Engr Jimoh Alao.
“While we noticed the sentiment being expressed by some people on the timing of filing the charges against Saraki, we want to submit that justice should always take its course at any time to ensure decorum and public safety,” the group said in a statement.
“As we said earlier, court remains the only place where a suspect can prove his innocence, and therefore, we want to encourage Dr Saraki to face his trial and defend himself on the allegations levelled against him in court rather than resorting to media propaganda.”
