Senate president Godswill Akpabio, has claimed that the escalation of terror and criminal activity is because of the up coming 2027 general election.
Akpabio who was speaking in Abuja predicted that two weeks after the polls the situation of things will improve.
He alleged that it was those opposed to President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office are the ones sponsoring violence.
“Insecurity is increasing because elections are coming, because people don’t know what to do again.
“Immediately after the election, two weeks after the election, insecurity will stop. The insecurity is being sponsored by people.”
The problem of insecurity has plagued Nigeria for over 16 years with the government unable to put a stop to it.
Under President Tinubu there has been killings and kidnapping by terror gangs and bandits.
Recently the Nigeria Army has suffered heavy casualties in it’s fight against Boko Haram on Monday met behind closed-door with service chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, IGP.
