Nigeria Army troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested a 15-year-old boy suspected to have participated in the attack that led to the killing of Brigdier General Oseni Braimah in Borno State.
According to reports the suspect simply identified as Tijjani, was arrested on Sunday at Ngamdu while on an errand to procure food supplies for members of his group.
Brigadier-General Oseni Braimah, commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade, was killed when Boko Haram fighters launched a surprised attack on their base in Benisheikh. A number of officers were killed in the attack.
In a video circulating online, the suspect, who spoke in Hausa, admitted involvement in previous attacks in Benisheik and Ngamdu. He disclosed that the group operated from Jilli, where they retreated after carrying out operations.
“Before the attack, we came from Jilli and returned there after the attack. I was sent from Jilli yesterday with N850,000 to collect some logistics from Ngamdu, but I was arrested by troops,” he said.
The army authorities did not issue an official statement regarding the arrest.
