Marc Guéhi scored the second of the three goals Manchester City pumped in against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge to boost their chances of winning the Premier League title.
League leaders Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, meaning that if failed to beat City at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday, they may have practically handed over the title to City.
Guéhi said City would be glad to overtake Arsenal and be in command of the title chase. City with a game in hand, if they beat Arsenal with 70 points, will cut the points gap to three points.
“It’s great, it’s fantastic chasing Arsenal for the title,” Guéhi said.
He added that at Stamford Bridge the players, the coaches and fans did what they had to do to earn the three points.
“We just want to improve, just want to get better.
“When you have players like this guy [Cherki], it’s fantastic. Keep our feet on the ground, recover, and focus on the next one.
“The most important thing was we did the job today. We can focus on the game coming up now. Everyone did their job today. Thanks to everyone today for helping us and let’s just move onto the next one.”
Marc Guehi...mark his my words.
