Real Madrid has accused the Spanish Football Federation of encouraging unfair refereeing against it and has vowed to boycott activities of the federation.
The Los Blancos officials were reacting to Friday night’s incident where striker Kylian Mbappe was foul in the box during a LaLiga Match against Girona, despite been left with a bloody nose the referee refused to blow for a penalty.
The game ended 1-1 frustrating Real Madrid chance of closing the gap against Barcelona. Real Madrid are now six points behind Barcelona, who have a game in hand.
According to Jose Angel Sanchez Real Madrid general manager, the club will not take part in a
“rigged competition.” Real Madrid has frozen all institutional contact with the Spanish Football Federation, accusing the governing body of maintaining an “unfair and rigged refereeing system”.
“We are not seeking privileges, but justice. What is happening is unjustifiable and cannot be tolerated.”
Speaking on match Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa lamented that he cannot understand why decisions that could change the outcome of a match are ignored despite VAR presence.
“It’s a penalty here and on the moon,’ Arbeloa told reporters in post-match chat.
“When does VAR intervene? It intervenes when it suits them, and when it doesn’t, it doesn’t.
‘We’ve had many problems with the referees. With this one, in Mallorca, it’s the same old story.’
