Super Eagles and Trabzonspor top striker, Paul Onuachu has suffered an injury blow as he aims to lead his club to the Turkish League title and also top the scorer’s chat.
According to reports the big striker who leading on the score charts with 22 goals suffered a muscle injury and was drop from the squad facing Alanyaspor on Saturday. Onuachu’s goals have helped Trabzonspor to garner 63 points closing the gap with Galatasaray who are on 67 points.
Onuachu during training for the game against Alanyaspor had complained of pain and stiffness in his upper anterior muscle group. Trabzonspor head of medical board Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beşir, explained that after an initial assessment, muscle injury was suspected, and Onuachu rested as a precaution.
Before the injury scare Onuachu had assured supporters of the club Trabzonspor will work hard to dethrone Galatasaray.
“We are having a great season, both as a team and as a coaching staff. Being at the top of the goalscoring charts is very important to me. I feel very happy,” he said during a meet and greet event.
“Right now, without making too many comments, we need to continue winning our matches. There’s a 4-point difference, and we have matches ahead. Let’s win, and the rest will be clear.”
Onuachu joins Victor Osimhen on the injury list in Turkey.
