Terror gangs believed to be Boko Haram fighters overran a military base in Benisheihk and attacked several communities in Kaga Local Government of Borno State killing Brigadier General O.O. Braimah and 18 other soldiers.
The incident according to report occurred Thursday at 1.am when in coordinated attacks the terror gang launched multiple attacks on the base. The soldiers were overwhelmed by the numbers and firing power of the attackers.
According to a intelligence source “the terrorists killed several troops” and “burnt vehicles and buildings before they withdrew.”
“Unfortunately, the brigade commander, Brigadier General O.O. Braimah, lost his life,” Kaga Local Government Chairman Zannah Lawan Ajimi told AFP.
His death follows the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba by ISWAP in November. He was the highest-ranking military official to die in the long-running conflict since 2021.
The Boko Haram fighters around 10.30 pm Wednesday attacked surrounding communities looting looted food items and destroyed facilities, including equipment belonging to a road construction company in Pulka.
