Afrobeats super star Damini Ogulu a.k.a Burna Boy will not be hearing his songs in public entertainment for some time as the Nigerian DJs Association has placed a temporary ban on him.
This was after Burna Boy and Michael Babatunde Adeyinka a.k.a DJ Tunez came to blows at a night club Monday night in Lagos. An argument about who is right and who is wrong quickly degenerated in to a mass brawl. Burna Boy in social media post admitted roughing up DJ Tunez a close associate of Wizkid.
“The Nigerian DJ Association has issued a statement to all disc jockeys to avoid playing the singer’s song. The association stated that no one is born hating another person because of their skin colour, religion, background, or gender,” the NDJ said in a statement.
“Please note: Here at NigerianDJ, we put all our DJs first, standing firm on “ALL DJs are EQUAL,” and offering a transparent, personal service to help our DJs and clients achieve their goals and ambitions, both at home and in the Diaspora.
“Burna Boy’s music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists till further notice. Our team will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident that occurred Monday night involving one of our own, DJ Tunez. We urge DJs in Nigeria as a whole to be vigilant and respectful toward any male or female artist at their events.”
There has been back and forth between the crew of Burna Boy and that of Wizkid on social media since he confrontation. Burna Boy writing Thursday in post on X challenged Wizkid to a duel.
