Peter Obi...burning ambition to lead.

29.3.2026

Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi has accused the government of President Bola Tinubu of setting roadblocks for his aspirations to be President in 2027.
Obi who was speaking during an interview on Magic FM Aba stated that there were moves by the government to stop him from getting on the ballot for the 2027 elections.
“The present government is bent on making sure I am not a candidate for any party,” Obi said.
Obi stated that he would continue to pursue his ambition because Nigeria needs to be rescued from the politicians who have held the country to ransom. He said Nigeria needs leaders with real experience, especially at a time of economic hardship.
“Our challenge remains competent leadership with capacity, compassion, and commitment to the development of our country as it is in other comparable nations,” he added.
He faulted the recent electoral act signed into law by President Tinubu, stressing that weakening electoral laws could damage public trust. He said credible elections are key to national stability. He added that any law that appears to protect wrongdoing sends a wrong signal to Nigerians.
