Though some music enthusiasts predicted the demise of the Afrobeats genre in the future, Nigeria music legend Innocent Idibia a.k.a 2Baba has dismissed such insinuations.
The “African Queen” crooner who was speaking during a Wazobia FM Lagos interview noted that Afrobeats will continue to attract global attention because young Nigerian artists keep churning out vibes.
“Afrobeats can never die. If you listen to some of the young artists now, you will agree with me that the music is in safe hands,” he said.
“Recently, one of the young artists, Fola, remade my song ‘If Love Is a Crime’. I really loved it. Soft, smooth vocals. It is amazing. The present crop of artists have special flows. I love their styles.”
He concluded that these young stars are the lifeblood of the industry and will keep the African sound alive on the world stage.
