Warships prowling the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump has allegedly conceived a plan to rename the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf to the “Strait of Trump.”
According to reports by the New York Post quoting a senior official from the Trump administration. President Trump recently revealed his desire to rename the Strait of Hormuz—effectively blockaded by Iran—to either the “Strait of America” or the “Strait of Trump” after seizing control of the area. One official said, “We will reclaim the strait,” adding, “They (Iran) will never be able to blackmail us using the strait as an excuse. You can count on it.”
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global energy transport, is assessed as a “natural fortress” that is difficult for the U.S. to control unless ground forces are deployed. Trump is reported to prefer a plan to fully monitor and manage the area to prevent Iran from controlling civilian shipments passing through the strait. One official asked, “If the U.S. ensures a free and safe environment, why should we call it the Strait of Hormuz?” Hormuz is known as a proper noun derived from medieval Persian.
