Nasarawa State governor Abdullahi Sule has debunked claims he met African Democratic Congress presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar in Saudi Arabia where they discussed how to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
According to reports in a section of the media governor Sule and Atiku met on the sideline of the lesser Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where he allegedly pledged to support Atiku and work against Tinubu the All-Progressive Congress endorsed candidate for a second term.
But Sule’s chief press secretary Ibrahim Addra said in a statement Friday that the reports are false and misleading.
Addra describing the report as “a complete fabrication, false in its entirety, and did not happen”, said Sule never held any meeting with Atiku or his associates.
He also said that the governor has always been a strong supporter of President Tinubu and has been consistent in using available platforms to extol the leadership qualities of the current administration.
Addra further alleged that some political actors are responsible for spreading such lies to sabotage the relationship between the president and the governor.
Also expressing confidence that their plot would fail, Addra said all governors of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) are solidly behind the president’s re-election bid and no false narrative would alter their support.
