Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has ruled himself out of the international friendlies against Iran and Jordan coming up in Antalya Turkey.
Bassey called in sick with bad back and will now join striker Victor Osimhen who is also sitting it out. Osimhen before he picked up an injury in Galatasaray’s Champions League clash against Liverpool had already been ruled out.
On Wednesday 22 Super Eagles players were in camp for the games. They include captain Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman, Akor Adams, Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Paul Onuachu, Moses Simon, Semi Ajayi, Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye, Adebayo Adeleye, Bruno Onyemaechi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Igoh Ogbu, Zaidu Sanusi, Raphael Onyedika, Chidera Ejuke, Philip Otele, Yira Sor and Emmanuel Fernandez.
On Friday the Super Eagles will take on Iran whose participation at the 2026 hangs in the balance due to the war between the country and hosts US. The games were meant to be played in Amman Jordan, but were moved to Turkey.
The Super Eagles will square up with Jordan on Tuesday.
