Legendary Arsenal striker Ian Wright has warned his former club, the Premier League is far from being won as nine points can evaporate if they slip up in their coming games.
Wright speaking against the background of Arsenal poor showing against Manchester City in the League Cup final last Sunday, said with City having a game in hand and also playing Arsenal at home, Mikel Arteta needs to worry about getting other results.
“It’s nine points, but Man City have a game in hand, and they’ve got to play them, so it can go down to three,” said Wright.
“All of a sudden, the pressure really turns up. Make no mistake, these nine points is a tight nine points
“Arsenal really need to refocus and get themselves back on track for what they want to do. They need to win games now.”
“People talk about how they win games ‘oh it’s set pieces’ – it doesn’t matter, everyone knows that” added Wright.
“We’ve got a DNA of winning games resiliently. They’ve got to kick into this because this team know it’s not over.”
Arsenal will play against Bournemouth on April 10, while City will be at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea April 12. On April 19 the two rivals will then clash at the Etihad Stadium where City hopes to reduce the gap.
The Premier League is already in its home stretch with eight or nine games to go. For Arsenal to lay their hands on their first title in 25 years, they need to practically win all their remaining games.
